Abraham: The Friend of God
In the early second millenium before the common era, there lived a
Prophet by the name of Ibrahim (Peace Unto Him). Ibrahim's descendents
included the three great Prophets Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (Peace Be
Upon Them). The shared ancestor of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam is
today the father of 12 million Jews, 2 billion Christians, and 1 billion
Muslims. To the followers of the three faiths, Ibrahim was the first
person to declare that there was only one God. Ibrahim, according to the
Quran, did not belong to any religion; he was however true in faith and
submitted himself to the one God.
